Damiano “Dom” Albanese entered the Resort Real Estate business in 1986 as a timeshare sales executive for Performance Marketing Group, selling various non-branded Timeshare projects in the Eastern US. While with Performance Marketing Group Mr. Albanese evolved to a Director of Marketing and eventually a Project Director of Sales & Marketing.
Mr. Albanese joined Marriott Vacation Club Int. (MVCI) in 1991 as Director of Marketing for the Orlando Timeshare operations.
In 1996 he was offered and accepted the role as Vice President of Marketing for Hilton Grand Vacations Club.
Subsequent to this Mr. Albanese was asked to come back to Marriott. He accepted the role of Vice President of Marketing Operations at MVCI in support of sales operations throughout the United States, the Caribbean, Latin America, Europe and Asia.
At that time MVCI was a site based resort real estate development business. In the role of Chief Marketing Officer and Vice President for MVCI, Mr. Albanese led the efforts to expand distribution by focusing on Marketing Channel management and on key Customer Cluster groups. In addition, Mr. Albanese led efforts for the creation of a state of the art CRM Database as well as the implementation of Internet E-Commerce efforts.
During the tenure of Mr. Albanese, MVCI grew sales from $250M in 1996 to over $1 Billion in 2003 while simultaneously reducing marketing costs.
As a result of these successes, in 2006, Mr. Albanese was afforded the opportunity to head up the expansion of Marriott Vacation Club into Asia.
Mr. Albanese is currently based in Singapore as Regional Vice President of Marketing, Sales and Service for the Asia Pacific Region for MVCI. He is focused on helping MVCI cost effectively grow its Timeshare operation throughout the Asia Pacific region.
Mr. Albanese currently has full P&L accountability for the Marriott Vacation Club timeshare marketing, sales and call center operations in Singapore, Thailand, Hong Kong and Japan. In addition to these markets, he conducts marketing efforts in China, India, Malaysia and Indonesia and is in the process of opening up the markets of South Korea, Taiwan, Australia and Macau.
He is also responsible for coordinating the efforts of Asia based leaders in the areas of Legal, Finance, Human Resource, and Real Estate Development.
Mr. Albanese is also leading industry efforts to create a timeshare trade group in Asia to be known as Resort Developers Association Asia Pacific (www.rdaap.org). The focus of this trade group is to objectively define and quantify the timeshare opportunity in Asia to promote developer investment; establish consumer advocacy processes and business code of ethics; and enable best practice sharing for Legal, Finance and Consumer Lending to support long term growth of the industry.
